The project gathers an experienced multidisciplinary research group from five Norwegian research institutions, Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU), Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), Norwegian Institute for Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), Nordland Research Institute (NRI), and Norwegian Institute for Nature Research.

The research activity is strengthened with the involvement of seven experienced international researchers from Newcastle University (GB), VetAgro Sup Clermont-Ferrand (F), Cornwall Council (GB), Wageningen University and Research (NL), Ghent University (B), and University College London (GB).

The official partners are the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage, the Sámi Parliament, Saltfjellet Reindeer Herding District, Nordland County Council, Hordaland County Council, the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT), Statskog Nordland and the Middle Nordland Nasjonal Park Board.  We have newly established a close collaboration with the Norwegian Nature Inspectorate (SNO), Nore and Uvdal municipality, Buskerud County Council, and Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre. We have also established good working relations with the Norwegian Environment Agency, Oppland County Council, Sogn og Fjordane County Council and the Forum for Natur og Friluftsliv (FNF) in Hordaland.
